The Premise

In a futuristic Metropolis PC first person adventure game you’re in a battle to save Man or your Soul with new technology from another world. As an Alien predator waits for a chance to take over your city, how will you decide to join the fight?

The Synopsis/Backstory

In the year 3010 a war has broken out in a Metropolis on the edge of discovering new alien technology. Man has been introduced to a Colony of beings so void of human understanding that they have threatened to end humankind, starting with this Metropolis. In the government’s eagerness to develop a controllable human weapon against the Alien forces, an experiment escapes a lab located in the heart of the city. The specimen eagerly starts spreading its vampiric like disease on the cities inhabitants. By the second day of its escape the city is in a forced quarantine under an impregnable Bio Dome to keep the Colony from attacking.

As residents begin to notice a change in their neighbors they start to take sides to survive. There are clusters of healthy people trying to hide within the city and avoid the disease. Some have formed a truce with the infected to stay alive by providing illegal food sources. Kidnapping and forced slavery has become big business for the known hustlers. Hookers with healthy doctor reports are no longer walking the streets but are now blood bank donors to those infected. The Police force fights exhaustedly to plug the tearing sectors of the city. While the government in a struggle to keep things Top Secret search for the escaped lab specimen.

As the Colony watches from outside the Dome as a looming enemy ready to strike, you choose sides by adapting one of the five characters in the game. What side will you be on? Will you help fight to save your city as the leader of a gang against the infected? Will you join forces with the government or get recruited by the police to hold on to order? Or will you do the biding of the genetically altered human and help it carry out a plan embedded in its DNA. Could he be the intended weapon to man extinction? In this made for PC Single person action adventure you get to play the game over and over by following your chosen character to the end of their story line. The game offers surprising endings depending on which character you choose. It’s your choice to end man’s reign on earth by disease or alien weaponry. Or save the planet with newly developed skills acquired throughout the game. Believers of this war ending have begun to say “MAY THE DAWN BE YOUR DAY!”

Reveal: I AMM….THE COLONY

Game World

Welcome to the year 3010; take a stroll on walking levels that pass as streets in this steel and glass Manhattan like Metropolis where technology rules man.  The toxic gases and smoke of its history causes residents to build up into metal upon metal skyscrapers. The city floats above the old streets and sewers of years past. Below you will still find caverns of dead subway systems and endless paths that lead to huge spaces of debris wrought with old machinery. Some residents still choose to live below in the sewers and eroding streets protesting to live in the air. They claim to be holding on to the history of the city.

A historic change takes place in 3010 when someone sends out an invitation to the galaxy and a alien race called the Colony RSVP.  These creatures appear to be a hybrid of man and reptilian like animals with a affinity to the sun. History tells the scientist of Metropolis that these beings use to live deep within the city core victims of years of exposure to the toxic gases. Through earlier technology they manage to leave earth centuries ago before the rebuild of the air city.  But their seemingly peaceful return eventually threatens mankind. The Colony sees man now as weak and develops a desire to make Metropolis their own.  A boiling over of tolerance produces a war within the city. The Colony losing their first fight retreats to their black disc shaped space ship hovering over Metropolis to organize their invasion. Recovering as best they can the residents to protect themselves plead for more drastic weapons of destruction? The Military steps in and shares with a select chosen few their protective arsenal, but others have to rely on the city police force for protection. Scientist using their knowledge joins in on the desire for better weapons and become dealers. By choosing to supply both side’s military and residents they develop first special suits adorned with imbedded laser guns as personal arsenals. They then offer head and instant body shields to the residents that want to be fashionably protected.

As the Colony continues to hover and fear continues to grow the residents again turn to the scientist and military for a better protective solution. The government decides to use blood from one of the Colony visitors as a way for man to claim equality to the alien race.  They force scientist to begin experiments with human subjects using blood from a Colony alien. In their eagerness to develop a controllable human weapon against the Alien forces, an experiment escapes a lab located in the heart of the city. The specimen eagerly starts spreading its defect in the form of a vampiric like disease on the cities inhabitants. By the second day of its escape the city is in a forced quarantine under a newly erected Bio Dome. This impregnable dome soon becomes also a necessary barrier to keep the Colony from further visits. In a City that had no defined social classes residents begin to notice a change in their neighbors and start to take sides to survive. There are clusters of healthy people trying to hide within the city and avoid the disease. Some have formed a truce with the infected to stay alive by providing illegal human food sources.  Kidnapping and forced slavery has become big business for the known infected hustlers. As they swagger through the elevated walk ways with willing weak human pets on leashes. Hookers with healthy doctor reports are no longer walking the streets but are now blood bank donors to those infected like power brokers.  The multilevel streets soon turn to chaotic people movers with endless fires burning in trash cans to keep residents warm. The after effect of the dome is lowered temperature followed by grey overcast days.

Clothing has now become an economical trade source with leather and heavy cotton materials affording you great gain due to their warmth. Those in the military don body clingy leather like suits that can change color to reflect a soldier’s rank. But those in senior ranking positions still wear the fabric Military uniforms of the past with new technology enhancements. The Police force in their own blue colored uniforms fight exhaustively to plug the growing holes of the city. The sounds of sirens blaring from flying police cars tearing through the air soon become as common as the wind. While the government in a struggle to keep things Top Secret search for the escaped lab specimen in sweeping home unit raids. The Colony still hovering above the city like a second sun seems to be watching for weaknesses in the Dome. Or is the vampiric plague their original weapon after all? Are they just waiting for mans extinction? Those called “Believers” of the war against residents ending have begun to greet each other by saying “MAY THE DAWN BE NEW DAY!”  As you take a peek into the lives of five lead characters their survival in Metropolis will be in your hands.

Challenges and Strategies
THREE CHALLENGES AND THREE STRATEGIES

Lead Character: Master Sergeant Dina (DNA) McCoy

Master Sergeant Dina (DNA) McCoy vs Special Agent Sampson McCoy- DNA was not the apple of her father’s eye, who wanted a son. So she enlisted into the Marines and became a Master Sergeant of Special Forces (MARSOC) to gain his love. She witnesses her platoon being preyed upon in a small town outside of Istanbul by the Colony. This was the first visit the Colony made to earth. She has seen what the Colony can do first hand.  You’re sent home to Metropolis under investigation of having killed everyone in your squad. DNA Seeks out her father for help to clear her name, only to find that the government is protecting him. He is now a Special FBI agent (SAIC) assigned to oversee the experiments that made AMM. He knows what is loose in the Metropolis but will he help his daughter or will he be on the Aliens side.

As the Lead Character DNA in this story you go on a mission to break into the facilities/lab under the city to gain access to the database on AMM, you must fight your way through the lab labyrinth fighting off government forces lead by your father. Each room in the lab holds a clue in hidden files to the experiments and the knowledge you gain will help those in the government on the human side destroy the virus and its carrier AMM (who was a member of you platoon). Or you could be captured and be forced to watch your father bring down the dome to fulfill his promise. The Colony has promised him knowledge and special powers in exchange for his obedience.

THE LAB UNDER THE CITY, SUB LEVEL 1
As the Lead Character you will have to use your military combat training to fight TWO soldiers guarding an elaborate security system door on the first level of the lab requiring a hand print and identification pass key card. Once you disarm a soldier you will then use his hand and his ID to open a large vault like door with the words “Sub Level 1” written in bold large letters

H2H- Hand to Hand combat-  You can apply Knee Strikes, Leg and Arm blocks and Sleeper Choke Holds to disarm your opponents. Your opponents will also engage you in H2H using street fighting, boxing or kung fu techniques randomly. If you are hit with a kill blow you will die and have to start the mission over again at Sub Level 1 Door.
Risk: If you have to start the game over the guards at the facility will know your coming and add two more guards to the door. Now you have to fight your way through four soldiers.
Reward: If you are able to defeat the two or four guards at the door you will learn that they were able to move fast due to an enhancement drug they each keep in their pockets. You can commander this drug to acquire the same ability to move faster. The more of the drug you drink the faster you become.
Knife- With your military training you can strike your opponent using the six angles of combat. You must inflict all six blows Vertical Down, Forward diagonal, reverse diagonal, forward horizontal, reverse horizontal and forward thrust before your opponent will fall down defeated.  Your opponents can also use knives to defend themselves. If you are struck six times you will die and have to start the mission over again at Sub Level 1 Door.
Risk: If you miss inflicting all six blows before your opponents and die, when you start the mission over again. Should you choose to use the knife a second time you will still be wounded. You will need to jump, duck and use counter strikes to avoid getting killed. These extra moves will cause your life energy to decrease. This may slow you down and effect how quickly you move in striking the guards
Reward: If you choose to use the knife it will afford you the chance to interrogate the last guard still alive, forcing him to tell you how to open the door. He will also tell you about a self healing drug in the lab you can take.
Hand Gun- Using your nostalgic Military issued Walther P99 AS HD hand gun with an altered laser scope, you can shoot your opponents in the head for a Kill shot or you can wound them by shooting them in the legs. Since you have decide to use a nostalgic old weapon the sound of using the gun will cause the alarms to go off warning others that you are there. More soldiers from above ground will start to converge on to the lab for more military support. You will need to move fast or risk fighting an army. You cannot shoot them in the chest due to their bullet proof vests. And soldiers will present inhuman like speed to dodge your bullets
Risk: If you miss shooting one soldier in the head and only wound them then you risk a death shot retaliation by the second soldier. If you are hit with a kill shot then you will die and have to start the mission over again at Sub Level 1 Door.
Reward: If you use the hand gun and manage to kill the soldiers as one slowly dies he will tell you the special code to opening the door. You can then take his laser weapon as extra ammo.

If you succeed in opening the door at “Sub Level 1, you can PROCEED to Sub Level 2

As the Lead Character you must walk through a maze of hallways in search of the experimental lab. Should you find the right door you will encounter THREE military personnel working in a Lab. You must fight these personnel doctors as you search for a file on a disk containing details of the experiments and a map to the facility for others to find their way. Your opponents will engage you in fighting by throwing lab bottles at you.  You will use stealth like maneuvers and Quick reflexes as you shield yourself behind desks, chairs and lab tables

Risk: You must dodge these lethal bottles as some will be acid to melt your skin, some will be gas to put you to sleep and some will create small fires to consume only you. If you are directly hit by any of the bottles each will be a fatal blow causing you to experience the effects and die. You must start the mission again from the beginning of the Hallway Maze should you die.

H2H- Hand to Hand combat- You can apply Knee Strikes, Leg and Arm blocks and Sleeper Choke Holds to disarm your opponents and deflect the bottles thrown.
Reward: Before you inflect a kill blow you can force a lab technician to tell you where the vial is with the Alien blood. They will tell you how to see vampires that have the ability to become invisible.
Knife- With your military training you can inflicts wounds to your opponents’ arms causing them to be unable to throw a bottle. You can then leave them wounded in the lab.
Reward: You can force one of the lab workers to tell you where the vial is with the Alien blood. And be able to collect some of the bottles in a smaller size as additional weapons.
Hand Gun- Using your nostalgic Military issued Walther P99 AS HD hand gun with altered laser scope you can shoot your opponents in the head for a Kill shot. But these lab workers can shield themselves behind desks and machinery. You cannot shoot them in the chest due to their bullet proof military issued vests. If you miss shooting them in the head and only wound them then you risk getting hit by a lethal bottle.
Reward: Before one of the lab workers dies you can force him/her to tell you where the vial is with the Alien blood. And be able to take his futuristic vest made out of a special alien material…unknown to man.

If you succeed in Obtaining THE Diskette ON “Sub Level 2, you can PROCEED to Sub Level 3

As the Lead Character you will take an elevator at the end of a hall in search of the vial with the Alien blood. You have learned that this vial is in your father’s office. He will be waiting for you with a small army of THREE failed experimental creatures hidden throughout his office. Each creature will have a unique ability you must counter. There will be a Time clock on your father’s desk counting down.

Creature 1- Will choke you with a Long lizard like tongue. Kill #1 by choking it with its tongue by moving fast around him.

Creature 2- Will spray poisonous venom in your face-– Kill #2 by holding a mirror to his face from a nearby table.

Creature 3- Will crush you with his super strength using his massively large hands and arms- Kill #4 by chopping off its arms with your sword.

RISK: if YOU FAIL TO find and KILL ALL THREE CREATURES BEFORE TIME RUNS OUT Your Father Special Agent Sampson McCoy will be sitting at his desk with the blood vial in his hand. He will also have his other hand on a button that will turn the dome off over Metropolis thereby allowing the Colony to gain entry.
REWARD: SHOULD YOU KILL ALL THREE CREATURES BEFORE TIME RUNS OUT YOUR FATHER WILL CONFESS TO YOU AMM’S WEAKNESS AND HOW TO KILL HIM. He will engage you on an emotional level by explaining why he always wanted a boy and hand over to you the blood vial used to make AMM. You will then use your military knife to disconnect the wires on the button on your Father’s desk. This final move will be a sign that mankind has WON...GAME OVER!

Competitive analysis

One game title currently on the market that could be considered a competitor of my game.

CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS II

Although the story line is different here is where I found the similarities in this game and my own. This single-player incentive in the Call of Duty franchise called Black Ops II features two connected storylines, multiple endings with a story set in the future year of 2025. During this era there are wars using cyber warfare, robotic and unmanned vehicles, so the use of future warlike technology is a strong comparison. As for my game the technology is paired with weapons and bio warfare that includes a vampiric virus plague.  The Black Ops II includes prominent military US Special Force as my game includes members of the Military special force.  Within the game the player as a character is presented choices with unpredictable outcomes to move through scenes/levels. For example one character by the name of Kravchenko is interrogated by a group and the player is given choices on how the interrogation will play out. This game also provides key supporting characters to enhance the story line. My game presents supporting characters to help the game player navigate the story line of the chosen Lead character.  Black Ops II has monster like zombies for players to encounter. The game I have created uses vampire like monsters as the antagonist or protagonist to the story line.  Call of Duty, Black Ops would appear to be more of a tactical military combat game visually, but it also has the visual similarity of an apocalyptic future city in the midst of a battle. I think buyers of this game will give mine a second look due to a familiar landscape with battle action.  What will set my game apart will be the various character storylines to choose from, giving the player an option other than to pick up the preverbal gun. But in my game you will have choices to pick up a sword, fight using martial arts, or just use hand to hand combat techniques. I also think the opportunity to switch genders will be an attractive offer for female players and nationalities. And if that was not enough you will have flying cars to drive, rewards to earn and the choice to be the kick ass girl, gang banger, cyber geek or monster.  Both games can be played on a PC as first distribution option but can also be converted to a PS Vita or console. (See Platform). What I find interesting about my game and this one is that I have never played Call of Duty: Black Ops II. I only learned more about this game from doing research into my competitive market. As we all wish we could present an original idea, I was happy to find that after all my work was done…I had more to offer a player and be unique.

READERS:
At the end of this class I knew What I wanted to be when I grew up, how I would apply what I was and will be learning. I knew when in my life I developed the love for gaming and how I would be able to contribute to this world I wanted to be in. I met students in my class that found this same love late in their lives and we all held hands through out the weeks in support of each other. We fought our dreams with swords and guns. We kicked the Ass of doubt with our armies and we knew at the end of this class that we would reach the top level and take the treasure waiting for us. My instructor in this class challenged my ideas, threatened my beliefs and then danced me into realization. I thank him fondly for his instructions and hope to get him in another class. He Got Me!

This was my first day class bio. I think I grew up in those five weeks:

Hello! Class and Instructor Horton,
I am Ingrid Jones. I desire to create video games that distract players with realistic skin textures, never seen before manipulated primitives and vibrant 3D backgrounds that will have their eyes dancing. I want to create stories in games that make a James Patterson book seem like a lullaby. And most of all, I want to create a super hero league made up of only culturally diverse women…ok and one really good looking guy. Pac-Man, was my first lover. It was all about the sound when I first started to play video games (Mrs. Pac Man, Donkey Kong, Super Mario Brothers, Frogger (loved the cars on the road, killed my frog allot) Then came the ability to Kick some B….and fight, with Mortal Kombat or Space Invaders. This required some in between cooling off time with Tetris. Somehow the game Myst sneaked into my library because it came with a computer I bought. Along the way I fell into the bad crowd with Grand Theft Auto (because I had to recruit developers for the first game, while working for an employment agency). When I was done fighting for the time being I wanted to build, build and build so I picked up the The Sims (Original, I & II and every expansion pack included). I later tired of 2D characters shaking their fist at me because I forgot to feed them.
So, I immersed myself into MMORPG’s with World of Warcraft which led me to Second Life and other RPG’s/Virtual Worlds where I hung out for 5 years.  While in virtual environments I have been Editor in Chief of an online virtual magazine, store owner of virtual furniture and Segment producer of Machinima TV shows. But as of today I am finding my fantasy adventure side with Skyrim, and most recently I found that history mixed with chances to fight was still a need to feed with Assassin’s Creed III Liberation. I still play a multitude of Droid games (100 Floors, Dante’s Inferno, Paper Toss, Family Feud, Office Jerk, Deal or No Deal, Burger) you can guess I never put my phone down. When I do I replace it with my hand held console PSVita. Or I’m in front of my computer playing a PC game. Now since I do require time to sleep, work and do homework I still have Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time and Uncharted Golden Abyss waiting to be unwrapped. But to sum things up with my game experience, I secretly want to play Plants vs Zombies, but people know me in my hometown Best Buy. I live in North Carolina now over 6 years, originally I am a City girl from NYC. I dare not mention my age until I can reach game levels in the 100s.  I now work in the Banking industry providing sales and application support to business customers, while I purse a B.S. degree in Game Art and Design to explain my fascination and growing love for all things Daz3D, Blender and Unity. What I hope to gain from this course is the ability to structure my game ideas instead of just saying “I can do better”. Well, I could go on but I’m stuck on the 54th floor of 100 floors, so let’s talk more later. It’s nice to be in this class and I’m looking forward to meeting everyone.
