PERSPECTIVES

Here is my PERSPECTIVE.

First Week we had to choose house and recreate it. This was the beginning of understanding lines (horizontal lines and vanishing points) but I would learn this much later. So, not knowing that I have always used Sight method to create my drawings I tackled this assignment as best I could. As you can see I had some work to do and room to grow.

We then started to form the shapes we took for granted in our every day lives. Our assignments called up us to create shapes in 2D. I think I was able to create the proper shapes but my angles challenged me on some.

Now that I had the opportunity to practice drawing my various perspectives I was required to create a One Point Perspective imaginary scene. And this is what I came up with.

I then had to practice my Sight drawing technique. So, I grabbed a stool from my kitchen breakfast bar with the thought, its big enough, how can I can it go wrong. I later realized that using the techniques of my thumb or pencil to gain perspective of distance was a little off and I needed more practice

Now that I had the opportunity to practice drawing my various perspectives I was required to create a Bird's Eye View scene.

The course then took a turn to shading and I found a technique that I enjoyed. Here is where I used all the previous art supplies I had bought but had no clue how to use them. I found myself using my 2B, 4B, and even 7B pencils. I started using my stump, my erasers and varying sizes of sketch paper. With these assignments leading up to the final composition, I rolled up my sleeves and pushed my abilities to draw to new levels.

Leading up to our final Composition the class assignment was asked to create Thumbnail Ideas, brainstorm using different discussed perspectives. I tried to challenge myelf with what I had learned by creating sketches of multiple techniques. Some were ambitious to say the least. I apologize if they are too light to see. We had to do this so that we could later return to our chosed sketch and improve on the details while erasing the lines we used to maintain perspective ( horizon lines, view point and vanishing points)

Now to get to my Final Composition I faced many hurdles. First I caught a Head Cold and with the medications I took I fell into deep sleeps on a few nights when I should have been working on my assignments. When I was able to complete or approach recommendations made from the critique of my instructor or fellow studends, I lost connections to the school site a few times. There were days I thought it was going to be impossible to complete the class after feeling like I had grown as a student eager to show the instuctor the influence he had made.

These are the stages I went through with my chosen sketch "One Point Perspective  Interior Dance Studio 2".

I think my completed composition did eventually show growth.
